Self-help and self-care

Sometimes when you or your family are unwell, you may not need to make an appointment to see your doctor.

For example, a visit to your GP for common conditions such as backache, headache or coughs can be avoided and an appointment freed up for someone else who really needs it.

This also means you don’t have to spend time waiting to see your GP and can instead use the time in fighting the symptoms.

In most cases you’re looking for ways to relieve it and a treatment that acts fast. Plus you want to know how long you’re going to suffer or what you should do if your symptoms change.

With self care you manage most of these problems, which is great news.

Your local pharmacy can play a significant role in many health conditions, so it’s worth visiting them for advice.
